A Little Speed Bump.

A Little Speed Bump.

There are not too many things that take priority over tacos, but I am facing something that has taken over the majority of my time.  I am still able to eat tacos  and will be posting periodically because the taco blog makes me happy.  Please keep eating tacos with or without my guidance and I can’t wait to continue my search for the best tacos in the ‘Burgh.

Hold onto your tacos and cocktails, we are making our way up to The Summit!

Hold onto your tacos and cocktails, we are making our way up to The Summit!

In the beginning of February, I planned on taking a road trip to Philadelphia to see my best friend from college, Julia. Our itinerary included the Mutter Museum in Center City, Evil Genius Brewery in Fishtown, and tacos (of course) at a place Julia recommended. Unfortunately, I could not make it to Philly due to last minute circumstances so Julia came to see me instead. That is just 1 in 1,348,568 reasons why Julia is an awesome best friend. Julia…

First Tacos of the New Year at La Poblanita.

First Tacos of the New Year at La Poblanita.

Not even two full days into the new year I had my first 2019 taco. I picked a place off my PGH taco list that was recommended to me by several friends for its authenticity and overall high quality of tacos. I had this place marked in my notes for months and I couldn’t think of a better time to try them than at the start of the new year. I took my friend Dan, who was also off of…

Let’s Taco ‘Bout It Ranking System

Let’s Taco ‘Bout It Ranking System

The wait is almost over….. This is the year people.   With over two years of taco blogging experience and visiting over 89 taco places worldwide (check out my map of where I have been here),  I am on track to finding my favorite tacos and specifically, the best tacos in the Burgh. With the help from my friends, Michelle and Andy, I developed a taco ranking system.  From here on out, I will rank each taco I blog about…

The Pittsburgh Taco Festival Strikes Back!

The Pittsburgh Taco Festival Strikes Back!

I was able to spend the start of my 10 day vacation in Pittsburgh without work on my mind. I knew I would soon be on a backpacking trip to the Grand Canyon, but first I needed a Tacofest.  Instead of worrying about compounding medications,  monitoring IV drips, or stocking the satellite pharmacy, I started thinking about how many tacos I was going to have at the second annual Pittsburgh Taco Festival.  To kick off my vacation, I invited one…

Jacki AND Baby Loves Tacos – Our Visit to Pittsburgh’s Newest Taco Spot

Jacki AND Baby Loves Tacos – Our Visit to Pittsburgh’s Newest Taco Spot

After many failed attempts, I finally made it to Baby Loves Tacos at 4508 Liberty Avenue in one of my favorite Pittsburgh neighborhoods, Bloomfield.  Baby Loves Tacos officially opened January 6th and one of my best friends, Alexis, beat me to the tacos.  Granted she lives less than 2 minutes away from this taco pumping establishment. I have heard so many positive reviews from Alexis and others online about Baby Loves Tacos.  I even browsed their Instagram and Facebook page…

Snow Melt Pittsburgh Tacos at El Paso Mexican Grill

Snow Melt Pittsburgh Tacos at El Paso Mexican Grill

After recuperating last week from the Lake Tahoe trip (unfortunately I did not get tacos there as I spent a lot of time eating with the wedding party at the cabin), I waited until this past weekend to get tacos.  However, as us Pittsburghers know, we were hammered with snow Friday into Saturday morning.  Sure I had some fun sledding down roads on unfurled Kan Jam cans, participating in epic snow ball fights, and shoveling the entire stretch of Nate’s…

A Different Approach: The Return to Smoke BBQ Taqueria in Lawrenceville

A Different Approach: The Return to Smoke BBQ Taqueria in Lawrenceville

On my journey to find and share my favorite taco in Pittsburgh, I decided that I may need to take a slightly altered approach.  Instead of focusing on visiting every restaurant and stand that has tacos (which I will eventually do too!) and trying maybe only 1-3 different tacos on the menu, I will be going back to restaurants that have the potential to have the best tacos in Pittsburgh.  My ultimate goal is to find where the best places…

Pittsburgh Tacos on a Lazy Sunday at Cocina Mendoza

Pittsburgh Tacos on a Lazy Sunday at Cocina Mendoza

This past weekend I participated in a lazy Sunday (which is rare for me to do) and stayed in bed all day watching episode after episode of Flash and Arrow.  For my lunch, I planned on getting takeout tacos at Mendoza Express, a tiny roadside building that I came across along Mansfield road in East Carnegie when I was heading home one day after errands. However, I found out they are closed on Sundays so I thought I would try…

South of the (Pittsburgh) Border for Tacos at Old Mexico

South of the (Pittsburgh) Border for Tacos at Old Mexico

On average, I don’t think I regularly experience a case of the “Mondays”.  Usually on Mondays I try to get a good workout in and get my favorite dollar tacos at Patron Mexican Grill.  Rarely do I let Mondays get to me.  However, last Monday…oh last Monday…I had a bad case of the Mondays. On that fateful Monday, I had Nate drive my beloved 2003 Honda CRV (aka Silver Bullet) to work at the Washington Auto Mall so he could…
